The projects below are a combination of my worktime and freetime projects. When executing designing work and considering the whole process from the user perspective, an item or service does not appeal to the user by it's marketing material, package or product design, but also by it's usability and the way it creates experiences. Because of that, I feel it important not only to conceptualize my work in design, but also to build, test and experience them myself in order to find a way towards better design solutions.
Master thesis work about the Concept of Luxury in an E-Commerce environment for the case company Wodens Group Oy. The work included vast amount of analytical research to map out the essential factors related to luxury marketing. The work produced notions for luxury marketing, bunch of conceptual sketches, photography and graphic design for the company to use.
A project of dismatling a beat-up 80's street bicycle and re-builiding it as a trendy fixie / single speed bicycle. The goal of the project was to utilize original parts as much as possible while updating only the necessary parts. The transmission is build utilizing the original crank set together with a custom self-built back wheel with reversable fixie / single speed option. A fun project including a lot of research about bicycle building and maintenace.
A progressive rock band, founded in 2001.
The line-up and musical style of the band has varied through it's lifecycle, but in 2017 returned back to it's original style with it's original guitar playing founding members.
Besides playing bass in the band, my work included the design of the band logo, photography, video shooting & editing, web design and posters album cover design.
A rock 'n' roll band between 2009-2014. Besides playing bass guitar in the band, my work included the design of the band logo, album covers, gig posters and website.
A traditional "cigar box guitar" build project. The construction of the body and neck is made out of wooden Miodula liquer bottle box, combined with oak flooring lists. The hardware of the instument is a combination of electric & jazz guitar parts, and other ordinary bolts & nuts.
A melodic death metal band, between 2002 and 2008. The band had several dozens of gigs, released three demo albums and made few music videos. My part in this band was with the bass guitar.
A research made to found out facts about different kind of Intellectual Property Rights in European Patent Convention countries, and how these rights are recognized on a global scale. The infography displays a graphical vesrsion of the results, while the analysis draws a list of conclusion of how a Finnish company may utilize these IRP's for business uses.
A group research with the aim to find out the essential factors for creating the best possible work environment. Infographics were made for a presentation.
For creating the best kind of media for your company, the work requires multiple people with different set of skills to aim for a common goal, but without properly defining the goal, the project may easily lead to wrong direction. For recognizing and defining the goal, my skillset includes some of the most essential tools: methods for customer research, vision for design solution, knowledge of design principles and experience with marketing.
User Experience is what matters the most: It is the driving factor that defines the customer satisfaction, customer loyalty and the customer perception towards products, services and brands. For implementing a proper UI/UX, the design decisions have to be placed on factors found through research. By learning your customer's values and noticing the most essential points in the service chain, the gathered results are the tool for improving your customer's experiences.
Videography, photography and graphic design has been my interest all my life: as a hobby, as a field of study and as a work. Besides the experience gained though years of work in media and design companies, design thinking is a mindset and a way of life. By mastering the techniques, noticing the trends in current media and combining the gained knowledge to desired vision, we together are able to create the kind of art that best serves your purposes.
Years of work in advertising and media companies combined with my latest studies have taught me a trick or two about marketing: The customer is not always right. The best way of marketing is not always to provide only what the customers are asking for, but more to provide something to desire for. By recognizing, segmenting and undestanding your customers, the marketing message can be designed to reach and invoke the inner values of your most profitable customers.
